Miles of waymarked trails meander through the forests at Fort Augustus, to some of the finest viewpoints of Loch Ness. The village is a couple of hundred yards from the Abbey apartments as is the Caledonian Canal which passes through Fort Augustus. You can enjoy a drink on the side of the canal and watch the boats passing through the the series of lock gates on their way to Fort William via Loch Lochy or Inverness via Loch Ness.
